The New Time is pleased to announce the 8th birthday of our own Joe Jangles Petrucci,
who has the unlikely distinction of having been born on a leap year. It
was on this auspicious day in 1976 that Joe, a “leapling,” was born in
Brooklyn, NY to Joseph Sr. and Caroline Petrucci.
For the
uninitiated, the leap year compensates for the mathematic reality that
a solar year is almost 6 hours longer than 365 days. There’s also a lot
of complicated math involved but we won’t go into it here.
What’s
important is that Joe Jangles, accordionist extraordinaire, advocate
for disadvantaged children and son of the Gregorian calendar glitch is
today 32 years old, although his birthdays number eight.
Congratulations Joe, you've done us proud.
(We should also note
that Joe’s first phone call this morning was from none other than
“Never Nervous Pervis” Ellison, first overall pick in the 1989 NBA
Draft by the Sacramento Kings, who later earn Most Improved Player
honors after averaging twenty points, 11.4 rebounds and 2.68 blocks per
game with the Washington Bullets in the 1991-92 season.)

The New Time reviewed on Girl About Town
The New Time is pleased to announce a review of our little record on Girl About Town:
"In today's day and age of processed, produced, and predictable stuff, it is a delightful surprise to stumble across a band that finds inspiration from the grit and grime of another era. Meet The New Time, a Philadelphia band that is moved equally from their Fishtown neighborhood as they are by the coal towns of Pennsylvania, Appalachian folk lore, and Wild West saloons."
In commemoration of the 199th anniversary of Abraham
Lincoln’s Birthday, The New Time is pleased to announce all five tracks from
our demo EP, “With Signs Following,” are now available to download as mp3s.
To download, simply go to the
“Sound Recordings” tab and follow the instructions. You can download the entire
record or individual tracks as you wish.
We are pleased to offer these songs in honor of the
sixteenth President of the United States, who was born February 12, 1809, in a
one-room log cabin in Sinking Spring Farm, southeast Hardin County, Kentucky.
Lincoln, a largely self-educated man who knew how to
wrestle, pilot a riverboat and wield an axe, exemplifies the principles and
mores of The New Time, and his memory continues to inspire and challenge us in
these troubled times.

"Johnny Cash is Dead" music video (2005 version)
Filmmaker Colby Hall, an old friend of The New Time, recently posted this music video of "Johnny Cash is Dead" on his YouTube account. This is an older, slower version of the song recorded as a demo in Chicago before the current incarnation of The New Time.
Colby and John shot this footage in their hometown of Palmer, Alaska one afternoon on Thanksgiving weekend, 2005. It was about -20 degrees outside.
